What’s Inspiring Our Interior Design Studio This Summer?

This summer, I have found myself drawn to inspiration that feels deeply connected to the way families live. The moments that happen naturally inside a home. The conversations around the kitchen island after a long day. The doors left open while children run outside. The gathering of friends and family around a table. The quiet corners where memories are created without anyone realizing it.

These are the moments that continue to inspire our studio.

Not necessarily the newest trend or the next thing to chase, but the details that make a home feel meaningful. The kind of rooms and moments that feel collected over time. The kind of rooms where you can imagine a family gathering together, sunlight moving across the floor throughout the day, and life unfolding beautifully within the walls.

Here is a closer look of what is inspiring our studio this summer and why…

French Doors with Window Panes: The Beauty of Natural Light

One of the things I continue to come back to in design is the importance of natural light. Large, oversized windows, skylights, and nine pane doors are always at the top of my list of favorites. There is something incredibly special about allowing a home’s surroundings to become part of the design. Open doors, beautiful windows, and rooms that feel connected to the outdoors all create a sense of warmth and connection.

Natural light has a way of softening everything it touches. It highlights the texture of materials, brings warmth into a room, and allows a home to feel different throughout the day. When we approach interior design in Northeast Georgia, especially when designing homes for families, we are always thinking about more than how a room looks in a single moment.

We think about how it feels throughout the day. How morning light welcomes you into the kitchen. How a living room becomes the gathering place for movie nights and conversations. How your home supports the everyday rhythms that make your family unique.

The most beautiful rooms and detials are often the ones that work with their surroundings instead of competing with them.

Oversized Brass Handles and Chocolate Veining: The Quiet Details That Tell a Story

This summer, I have been especially inspired by details that feel timeless. A beautifully aged door handle. The movement and variation found in natural stone. An architectural arch that adds character without demanding attention.

These are the details that remind me why thoughtful design matters. A home does not become special because every element is bold or dramatic. Often, it is the quieter decisions that create the greatest impact. The materials selected because they will continue to tell a story over time. The craftsmanship chosen because it brings something unique to the home. The architectural details that give a space a sense of permanence.

This is where the heart of our studio comes through. We believe homes should feel personal. They should not feel like they were designed just for a magazine, but instead designed for the people who live there.

After Dinner Walks and Bike Rides: Designing Homes Around Connection

After Dinner summer walks with son and daughter and father

The image that may inspire me the most this summer is the one that represents connection.

A family walking together. A shared moment outdoors. The simple beauty of being present. Because ultimately, this is what we are designing for. Not just beautiful rooms. Not just carefully selected finishes. But the moments that happen inside those spaces. The family dinners. The celebrations. The quiet mornings. The conversations that happen long after everyone has finished eating.

As a family focused interior designer serving Athens, GA and Northeast Georgia, this is always at the center of our process. We want homes to reflect the people who live there, their routines, their priorities, and the memories they hope to create.

Cased Openings with Curved Arch Details: The Beauty of Architectural Accents

Another detail that has been inspiring our studio this summer is the quiet beauty of architectural elements that give a home its character.

One detail I have especially loved seeing more of is the use of cased openings. There is something timeless about creating a thoughtful transition between spaces rather than relying on every room feeling completely separate. A beautifully detailed opening can add warmth and a sense of craftsmanship while still allowing a home to feel open and connected.

It is a simple architectural moment, but it can completely change the feeling of a room. A cased opening draws your eye through the home. It creates a natural rhythm between rooms and adds a layer of detail that feels intentional without being overwhelming.

These are the types of details that continue to inspire our approach to interior design in Northeast Georgia. We believe the most meaningful homes are created through a combination of thoughtful architecture, timeless materials, and spaces that support the way families actually live. It is the details you experience every day.

A Summer Inspired by Timeless Beauty

If there is one common thread running through what is inspiring our studio this summer, it is this: a home should feel effortless, not because every detail happened by chance, but because every detail was thoughtfully considered, the right materials, the right balance of warmth and simplicity, and the right spaces designed around the way life actually happens. Whether we are working with clients on a new build interior design project, a renovation, or furnishing a home from scratch, our goal remains the same: to create homes that feel beautiful, functional, and deeply personal, because the best homes are not simply seen, they are felt.
