Timeless Interior Design Trends

Updated: Mar 26

Interior Design Trends - Natural Materials

The word "timeless" means something that endures the test of time. Incorporating timeless design trends into your home décor ensures that you won’t have to change it up every single year for the rest of your life. Timeless design trends are not fads or temporary statement pieces but are elements of design that tell a story and enhance the overall quality of a space. Each of these following design trends have been around for a while in varying degrees and will be around forever because they truly are timeless.

Design Trend Number One:

Wood Tones

Wood tones have always been a timeless piece of design. From vibrant oak cabinets to rich dark walnut tones or a light oak aesthetic, these elements focus on highlighting the beauty of the wood. In today’s current design world, you see the trend of mixing a variety of wood tones to create an appealing design. In the future, I believe this trend will continue to show up in design plans. Though the tones may vary, the overall concept of wood designs has proven to be a staple in the design world.

Design Trend Number Two:

Natural Materials

Items that have a natural appearance is a classic in high end design. From natural stone fireplaces to slate floor tile to marble countertops, each of these elements has remained at the forefront of design plans for years and will continue to stand the test of time. Other natural elements incorporated into design include brick, stone, clay, wicker, granite, leather, and glass.

Design Trend Number Three:

Double Doors

Double doors are an architectural feature that gives the design plan a grandiose element. Whether these double doors are front and center on a front porch or painted an accent color inside the home to give way to an office, they offer a timeless atmosphere. This design trend is ideal for grand castles or ranch styled homes for an elegant edge to home design.

Design Trend Number Four:

Black Accents

The color black has a quality that no other color has. It can pull a space together and create a modern edge in a home. The color black has been a timeless color in the design industry for years. Black quartz is a bold choice for a kitchen countertop or a small frame for a gallery wall. The dark feature that black can bring to a space whether boldly or subtly makes this color a standout accent in the design industry.

Interior Design Trends - Greenery

Design Trend Number Five:

Faux or Real Greenery and Florals

From the earliest photographs of interiors there was always a fresh hint of greenery or florals. Today, you can find single branches in vases in a minimalist organic design, or you can see and abundance of florals in a vase on a modern transitional coffee table. Faux and real greenery and florals gives the entire space a hint of nature which will always be a timeless quality in good design.

The trends in the design world today are always shifting. However, these design trends are particularly known for having a lasting quality. Each of these has established its place in design world and will continue to remain key, timeless design trends.
